Good and bad but still had a great time

just left Whittlebury Spa two hours early after what I had hoped was going to be a well earned relaxing few hours for my husband and I.We have both regularly visited the spa in many many occasions over the years and it is abundantly clear that standards have slipped and unfortunately despite being resident in the county, we will be using the facilities elsewhere now on.The general front desk service was non existent - no warm welcome and not even any enquiry as to whether we had enjoyed our visit when we left (otherwise I would have raised my complaints then ! - but she clearly wasnt interested in customer satisfaction or I am assuming would have asked and left us with a fond farewell)In general the whole place seems to be ill maintained, signs of wear, tear and uncleanliness in many areas. We had planned to firstly use the gym before hitting the spas, however hadnt been informed prior to arrival or upon arrival that it was closed. The Heat and Ice area left a bit to be desired, wet soggy crumbled up blankets left on the tepid beds. The two steams rooms, neither of which were very steamy! And neither had any nice menthols or aromas. Looking forward to a cooling ice cloth however despite a huge bowl of fruity ice, there was not on flannel and no one checked or replenished the stock whilst we were still there at least. We moved around to the swimming pool area-no staff to be seen tidying, no nice smells or essentials oils welcoming you in any of the public areas, the kind of inviting spa smells you would expect- the seating area had chairs all in dis array, wet cushions etc no one tentatively tidying and making the experience inviting nor pleasant. Again no customer service, have to wander soggy and damp footed into the cafe area to order drinks as no telephone or waiter/waitress service as you would expect of this Caliber of establishment. Anti pasti dinner was nice but again told if you want a drink you have to go get it yourself - no service ?! My meal was delightfully tepid by the time we waited until anyone popped out from the back to serve us. After the meal we were looking forward to snoozing it off in the whisper area and the heated water beds- again evidence of a lack of maintenance, care or attention to detail. Curtains coming off the hooks, all of the beds left looking like a homeless camp, not fresh warm and inviting but full of crumpled used blankets, other peoples wet towels and empty cups - again no staff to be seen anywhere keeping any public areas clean and inviting, again no nice spa- like smells. We tidied and sorted our own beds and lay in what is designed as a peaceful resting area to find our peace was shattered by 20 minutes of what sounded like someone hammering tiles off, followed by drilling and then a steady but regular stream of people rattling keys, locking, unlocking, slamming doors open and shut & wheeling trolleys. We both agreed we would have had more peace at home with our teenagers !! We decided to leave (2 hours early) and then discovered I couldnt even wash off the chlorine and day as the showers are all push button, close off after one minute and are therefore absolutely freezing ! Popped to the toilet and empty hand lotion tubs ! As Ive already said, no one enquired as we left regarding our experience and that is us gone - never to return again. It is sad to see such a decline in service & standards especially as weve always enjoyed having such a great spa so close to where we live. I am sure competitors will be reaping the benefits of the compromising standards as I am sure other customers will leave equally disappointed. For the money it cost, I could have had the same or better experience at my local leisure centre and had 65 change !

Disappointed today Payed for heat and ice Arrived 940 am no ice till 13.30 when about to leave We asked for ice twice in the morning also Lady at receiption said it was fixed ? Had lunch still no ice then it comes as we leave Did complain but all I got was an apology which is ok but we did pay for a heat ICE spa day so disappointed today

ABSOLUTELY DIRE........ the most miserable staff ever encountered in one venue. Disgusting food. Smelly grubby room. Spa that isnt deserved of the title...... overcrowded and no idea where to go for what. Sitting eating in a room with people barging through on way to the pool and gym.... uh?? Dreadful organisation and dated. Dont waste your money folks

Amazing Spa Day at Whittlebury Hall. The Spa, food and the service was first class. Looking forward to my next Spa break in the not too distance future. Highly recommended.
